Day Forty of 41 Days of Metallicar ...  
Today, Dean gets out of the car in New Harmony, Indiana. Here's my contribution to day 40 of the 41 Days of Metallicar celebration. Just one more day to the season four premiere!!

All he had left was a brother, a car, and a load of regret. When he left, all he’d leave his brother was the car and another load of regret.
 
His legacy.
 
He’d be the first to admit he hadn’t thought it through. All he’d wanted, all he’d ever wanted, was to save and protect his family, and not to be alone. Well, he’d screwed that up. He doubted he’d get more alone than Hell.
 
He’d never meant to hurt Sam. In the end, that was the only regret that mattered.
 
“Take care of him, girl,” he whispered, and left.

We need to get Dean away from you.

I'm actually glad you wrote this - it's so true. Dean had one thought in his mind when he made the deal - don't let the family down. He really DIDN'T think it through and it was a thought that was running through my mind throughout season 3, but the show never really touched on it.

*sigh* You make me sad. :(

Thanks. Dean admitted it in so many little ways, but the reality was stated best in The Magnificent Seven, when he said with devastating simplicity, "I couldn't live with you dead. Couldn't do it." That was it in a nutshell ...

I make me sad, too. But in a good way.

Tee-hee! I think I'll at least have to write a drabble for Friday to get over the melancholy of the lead-up to the season premiere by celebrating Dean's reunion with his best girl!

And of course, I have to get back in the swing of episode commentaries and haiku - yipes!

Heh - he pays Jensen too much for me to think that's gonna happen! On a two star show, I have absolute confidence that we're going to have two stars ... and one of them will NOT be wasted on meathooks in the Hell that the show doesn't have the budget to display!!

I absolutely love the pictures that you paint.

Poor Dean. Like others have said, this is like a scene that never got really shown on the show but was there in little glimpses throughout Season 3.

I'm going to get some Kleenex now.
