Day Fourteen of 41 Days of Metallicar ...
And ... I managed another drabble for the fourteenth day of the 41 Days of Metallicar celebration!  I'm surprising myself...

This one comes with a dedication to both my carpoolmate John and my online buddy raputathebuta, both of whom are intimately acquainted with the subject matter!! And since this year's event just happened last weekend and John took part, it's still fresh in my mind, which probably explains why I wrote this, even though this one would have to have taken place last year.

Dream Cruise, Check

“Are you nuts?”

“Come on, Sammy. We’ll never be noticed, not in those crowds. Well, we’ll be noticed, but I mean, we won’t be noticed – she will. What could it hurt, huh? Just one day?”

“A little matter of being wanted? Our pictures on post office walls?”

Despite his protests, Sam knew he’d give in. Dean had few dreams he’d ever shared. Showing the Impala in Detroit made the list his eighteenth birthday, when she became his.

When the Impala cruised gleaming down Woodward Avenue among forty thousand classic cars, Sam basked in Dean’s ecstatic pride, and savored the memory.

********************************

The first official Woodward Dream Cruise happened in 1995, and the formal organization was incorporated as a charity in 1996. And it's one hell of a show. Google it and feast your eyes!

I had also promised to do a photoshoot with my little toy Impala and make the pics available to folks. If you'd like to see my beauty from many angles (including multiple shots of the junk in the trunk!), you can find the slideshow and the individual photos here.  I hope you enjoy it!  Feel free to make use of the photos, if you're so inclined.

Oh Mary!!!!!! *smishes you*

Just wonderful!!! I think I would seriously have a coronary on the spot if I were to see these two fine young men amongst the cruise-goers!!!!

I DID manage to see a black '67 2-door SS & got a couple of snaps of it with my cell phone. I'll post them sometime this weekend.

Psst...much like your Guest Professors at SU, I think John should be a Guest Blogger & post an entry about his Cruise experience! You know I'd read it!!!!!!

Okay...gotta go look at your pics now! *hugs*

Ah, we were posters crossing in the night - I just left a note on your blog talking about your pressie here!

Delighted that you got to see an Impala of the right vintage, even though not the right model. Sweet, though, hey?

(I'll have to talk to John about doing a Cruise blog ... *grin*)

Mary...it was truly a thing of beauty, wrong model & all! It had red interior, but I didn't care! I walked right up to the guy & was all "This is a '67 right?" Like I (kinda sorta) knew what I was talking about. *giggle* I also saw some Chevelle's & said "Bobby's car!!!" At least my parents are understanding about my little obsession. *grin*

Heh! It says a lot that the highlight of my visit to Vancouver - you know, the one where I never did manage to find a shooting location - was the day we saw two of the Impalas parked next to Bobby's Chevelle in the fenced area behind the studio, a good three hundred feet or so from us. On such small crumbs do we subsist ...
