Day Eight of 41 Days of Metallicar ...
Inspired by an event during the Ride Home (see my motorcycle diaries elsewhere in my LJ), here is yet another 100-word drabble for today's 41 Days of Metallicar post.

And I don't care WHAT idiotic MS Word says:  an ellipsis (that's the "..." thingie) does NOT count as a word in my book!

“What could it hurt, John?”
“No offense, Padre, but I’m not much of a believer. Not any more.”
Jim just smiled. They’d stayed with him for a week while John learned more about the evils that hid beneath the surface of the world. The peace Jim exuded affected them all; Sammy was sleeping better, and while Dean was still silent, his eyes had regained a little sparkle. For the first time since Mary died, John felt less … stretched. He sighed.
“Go ahead.”
Jim sprinkled the hood with holy water.
“Oh Lord, bless this car and those who ride in her …”

Oh, I like it! The last line made me grin.

You're on a roll with these! One good one after another.

Thank you! I'm really enjoying doing them!

Loved it.

That old school was a pretty good school ... *grin*

Glad you enjoyed!

Hee! I really liked this one because when I got my new car a couple of months ago the first thing I did before leaving the dealership was sprinkle Holy Water on it! It's something my family's done with all cars we've ever bought!

Were you sending vibes in my direction? *grin* I hope your car doesn't need the blessing as much as the Impala (and the Winchesters!) obviously do!
zofia27zofia27 on August 18th, 2008 12:28 am (UTC)
Haha...no vibes...at least not consciously!

Apparently the blessing works better for me than the poor Winchesters because so far I haven't run into any trouble with the supernatural!

Pastor Jim! Pastor Jim! *flails*

Kripke should never have killed him. Seriously.

This drabble is great. You know why? Because...people have their homes blessed, right? Well...the Metallicar IS home to the Winchesters. It just makes perfect sense that Jim would bless her.

*sigh* Even though we didn't really get to know him, I miss Pastor Jim.

I blame Ridley & her AU Brotherhood stories for this. *grin*

You know that I agree with you on the Impala as home, Rap!

And I miss Pastor Jim too. We never got much of him, but he definitely left an impression behind! (And I haven't read those AU stories, so I can't attribute my sense of loss to anything more than the show itself ...)

Even though they're AU, they follow the timeline of the show & she manages to tie together her stories with what we see happen each episode...they're like the missing puzzle pieces between episodes.

She's got some that take place "pre-show" when SamnDean are young & stay with Pastor Jim & they really flesh out the character.

Ooooh! Wouldn't it be great to see Pastor Jim in a flashback?! Then they'd have an excuse to bring Ridge Canipe & Colin Ford back!

ROTFLMAO! Okay, I don't know that this one was supposed to elicit such a response (especially since I read backwards, and thus Sam's prank first), but OMG! Very nice contrast between the ambiance and "action," Mary. It almost makes me want to forgive Toady for the fanfic that you wrote to "make her cry." BTW, I particularly LOVED the first installment too (ah, Dean...). Looking forward to another twenty some-odd days of your tributes.

Great to see you, and glad you've been enjoying the drabbles, in whatever order! They've been a fun challenge to write; 100 words make for a very odd discipline. I hope that I can keep them up; I really want to!
