"Supernatural: Rising Son" comics are coming!
Thank you, TVGuide.com - I popped in for a little lunchtime diversion, and what did I find but a nice little article on the next set of Supernatural comic books coming in April!

Best parts? I like the new artist better than the one who did Origins (and don't judge just on the cover, because covers are usually done by different artists than the inside!); he actually can draw facial expression. Haven't seen his take on the boys, yet, but I'm hopeful. I like the story timing (looks like it will tie in with a certain flashback we saw recently ... yum), and the indication that the focus will be on the family dynamics.

And yay for Peter Johnson confirming that the collected graphic novel publication of Origins will include revisions from the comics to put the Impala squarely where we all knew she belonged: as a Winchester from the very beginning! I think he's also correcting some of the factual gaffes that fans pointed out ...

April is looking a little happier now, although true happiness requires a quick resolution to the writers' strike and the continuation of season three!!

What?! You fault Jensen's beard?! How dare you?!
(No, I'm not really like that... but I do love his face, beard or no beard!)

No, no, you misunderstand me. Jensen has a very pretty beard - in fact in ways I think he looks hotter with it, but he only grows it when he isn't working, and dammit, he SHOULD be working right now.

This is a bad thing.

Well I totally agree with you on that. I wish all good actors as much work as they can handle. Here's to the writer's strike coming to an end sometime real soon, and the writers coming out rosy! I wonder if actors are allowed to do independent projects like indy films or some such at this time, or if they are supposed to be waiting to suddenly start up production again? That would be nerve-wracking!

Umm... I think that they're under contract aren't they? They'd better be. I want to see Jensen on a reality show while he's waiting - maybe trying out for Pussycat Dolls or something.

Bite your tongue! NEVER on a reality show!!! (But that image certainly made me laugh ...) *grin*

You and Sue have been having entirely too much fun without me!

But in answer to your question, the boys are under contract and are expected to be ready to leap into the breach the moment things are resolved. Well, in reality, everybody knows that it will take a little time to crank the production engine back up, so they'll have a few days' warning before they have to hit the studio.

But believe me, it is nerve-wracking. Back in 1996, I wound up furloughed with the rest of the federal agency workers when Congress decided to express displeasure with the White House by failing both to pass a budget and to enact a continuing resolution to fund government operations while the budget talks continued. The furlough didn't last long, but every day started with checking the news and the EPA's main phone line to learn whether I had to go to work or not. Couldn't go anywhere, couldn't plan anything - everything ran from day to day. Bizarre.
