I'm for sale ...
Okay, folks:  I'm putting my word processor where my mouth is. I am officially pimping myself out as a Sweet Charity Ho in support of the Writers Guild Foundation Industry Support Fund.

For those of you not familiar with the concept, Sweet Charity is a fandom effort to support various charities in which people willing to sell their skills (affectionately known as "Ho's," for obvious reasons!) put themselves on the auction block. Buyers who want to take advantage of those skills bid on them, and the winning bidder gets what s/he wants from the Ho. The proceeds of the auction go not to the Ho, but to the charity designated as the beneficiary. This time around, that is the Writers Guild Foundation Industry Support Fund, which provides assistance to people in financial distress because of the writers' strike. That being a cause near and dear to my heart, I couldn't fail to pick my pencil up while certain other pencils have to remain down.

I've put myself on the block to do a 900+ word Supernatural  story. Winning bidder provides the prompt, I write to the length required to make the story happen. Angst, humor, hurt/comfort, mystery, terror, love, wee!chesters -- winning bidder calls the mood and the tune. I'm a canon writer and I can't write what I don't believe in, so I don't do character slash, but apart from that -- I'm a Ho!

Wanna be a Ho yourself? Wanna bid on me when the auction starts? Visit the Sweet Charity website and learn all about it. If you're here on LJ and want to be alerted when the auction starts (which will be 18 through 26 January 2008), you might want to watch the LJ community sweetcharityhoThis isn't limited to Supernatural fandom, by the way: you can find Ho's doing other fandom fic, videos, graphics, and whatnot, or become a Ho yourself offering multiple fandoms, if you wish. I'm sticking with Supernatural even though I've written a little in others over the years simply because I write where my mind and heart are, and we all know where that is these days.

And if you're really interested and determined, start thinking about what you'd like to have me write ...

Hi back!

I'm busier than the proverbial one-armed paperhanger, but that's usual. My oldest sister broke her ankle in a fall on ice Friday, but is quite chipper and doing fine. Elsewhere, things are pretty good - Mom is doing as well as can be expected, given the advancing Alzheimer's, and she and my other sister are enjoying their new gas oven with an orgy of roasting and baking. I just wish I wasn't 870 miles away, because that all sure smells tasty!

As for me, there are two potential goodies on the horizon. I'm waiting to hear whether I might get the promotion I applied for, which would be seriously cool - it's very rare that a non-managerial technical/policy position gets created at this level, at the top of the civil service pay scale, and the description of this one was written as if it had me in mind. And I just learned this week that my program office submitted the last project I had led (before my recent reassignment to the latest hot potato) for consideration as a candidate for an Agency gold medal. That would seriously rock; golds are few and far between, and while I've racked up my share of lesser awards, a gold would be a real feather in my cap. I probably won't know anything on either of those for a month or more yet (the gold would be waaaay further down the road, if it happens), so I'm not thinking about them much.

Instead, I'm thinking about how much fun I'm going to have at the Creation con in LA in March ... *grin*

Sorry about your sister, but the other things are great! I'll be crossing my fingers for you on the promotion and the Agency gold medal.

Good for you, Mary! Good luck with both the job & the Gold!

Too bad about your sister's ankle, but I'm glad she's doing well.

Enjoy the Con in March! Mmmmmm...the boys! You're doing the photo-ops aren't you?!

Wow!! You got a lot going on huh??! That all sounds awesome about work! I hope you get the promotion! A month is a long time to wait! My job "change" is working out ok too. I never realized how nice it would be to have my own office and now that I do, I love it! I get more done (and more LJ too!) Hee!

Sounds like your mom is doing pretty good. That's great. I know how much distance sucks at a time like this. I wish I could see my grandma a lot more than I can.

Wow, so many of you guys are going to L.A. and not Eyecon. :( As far as I know its just me and Ella! L.A. would have been a real possibility for me but I had already signed up for Eyecon and no way I can do both! Although, even without Jensen, I'm looking forward to the personal nature of Eyecon. Should be amazing! Can't wait! Jensen will just have to wait till another con to meet me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!
