My part of the fun has been ginning up a haiku for each day of the celebration, and I thought I'd finally go ahead and post the whole collection here on my LJ. I hope folk enjoy them!
They are gen, rated G for all ages, and spoiler-free.
Impala
Ever since the fire
She has been shelter and home.
They are her sons, too.

Listen to her purr!
Deep, throaty, sexy music
Rumbles pipes: Dean smiles.

Her rearview mirror.

Glittering in night
Dark as blood and bright as tears –
Raindrops on the hood.

The car reflects her driver:
Once broken, now healed.

Three hundred miles to daylight,
Dean hums while Sam sleeps.

Weight too great to bear;
Grief, guilt, duty, secrets, rage
Smash down on the trunk.

Her civilian trunk
Carried diapers, food, and toys;

She is the third star
And the only standing set,
Gleaming black and chrome.
Croatoan
Escape the roadblock –
Squealing tires, smoking brakes,
Fleet black powerslide!
Long Haul
Tires on pavement
Beat their own moody rhythm:
The sound of lonely.
Comfort
When there are no words,
When music would be too much,
Still – the car’s engine.
Together
Pain, loss, fear, sorrow,
Brothers share with words and not,
Sitting on the hood.

Beautiful, graceful, strong, proud,
Elegant in black.

From the long arm of the law,
Use disguise: new plates.

One year of minutes.

Season Three Premiere
Take the wheel and drive.
Hunting demons, saving Dean:
Winchester business.
That's it: 40 Impala haiku! I apologize for the occasionally funky text; for some reason, I'm having trouble making the font size consistent. Grrr ...
