Day Nine of 41 Days od Metallicar ...

So far, so many 100-word drabbles! Here is my entry for the ninth day of the 41 Days of Metallicar celebration ...

********************************
Pickup

He’d lost track of the towns across the years; the towns, the cheap motels, the trailer parks, the vacant homes, the diners, the quickie marts, the gas stations, the libraries, the bars. They all blurred together like rain on the windshield, a uniform semitransparent watery grey memory flicked away by the wipers only to be replaced by more of the same, over and over and over again.

But predictability wasn’t always depressing. One surety never failed him if he wanted company to sweeten his night; his single most reliable charm needed only one admiring look.

“Is that your car? Sweet!”

************************************
(Whoops: am I implying that the car is sexier than the man?  *grin*  Nah!)

*grin* The surest way to Dean Winchester's heart is to compliment his baby.

And the back seat is the surest way to ... did I say that?

Someone made a music video on Metallicar using the song "Greased Lightning," which would certainly seem to apply! Although myself...love the man, am iffy about the car (since my family had Impalas constantly when I was growing up, so in my mind they're a family car, not a chick magnet or a "muscle car").

But either way - nicely done! Beautiful description of the forgettable sameness of all those places they've passed through.

Thank you! I come by my love for '67 Chevy's honestly; my Dad's pride and joy was a '67 Chevy Bel Air station wagon, fire engine red, that we called Big Red. I remember the afternoon he and Mom brought it home, brand new, and a whole lot else that car saw over lots of years. I understand the sense of a car as being home and right - which has nothing and everything to do with how other people react to it.

Dean's baby makes me feel warm ...
